IFMA Corporate Headquarters Staircase Refurbishment
The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) is the largest and most widely recognized professional association of its kind, with 125 chapters in 65 countries. Founded in 1980, the association promotes efficient, effective, safe and humane workplaces through certification, research and education.
Chartered in 1987, IFMA’s Nashville chapter strives to address the daily challenges and networking needs of local facility professionals and their vendor partners. IFMA Nashville’s vice president, Becca Beasley Rowland, is one such vendor partner: She’s also sales manager of Modular Designs, a Nashville provider and installer of commercial flooring.
IFMA Nashville wanted to replace all of the carpeting at their corporate headquarters. They had used a broadloom carpet on the stairs and landings, but after years of use, the carpet, particularly at the nose of each step, was showing its age.
Rather than replace it with a similar broadloom carpet, Becca suggested using carpet tiles in conjunction with stair nosing for optimal long-term performance.Initially, we were thinking to use a vinyl nosing, but after discussions with our client, a metal nosing was preferred for durability,” she says. After receiving a few samples from Tredsafe, they selected the AA345 profile with black inserts.
“What did we like about this product? Everything!”
Becca was particularly impressed with its sleek, clean design and pleased that the profile would protect the edge of the carpet tile on both the riser and tread. “The inserts not only add a visual aid to warn of a step but also slip-resistance with their textured surface. Upon completion of the installation, both our team and the client are confident these treads will stand the test of time.”
